No-exam life insurance
Who qualifies for fast underwriting, how it works, and what happens if you don't.
Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within certain age and coverage limits, they decide based on the application, rx history, driving record, and other data without a paramedical exam. Some approvals come back the same day. Each quote on this site notes whether an exam is required, may be required, or is not required.
What it changes
No exam does not mean no underwriting. Your answers are checked, and a policy issued on wrong answers can be disputed within two years. If the carrier's research turns up questions, it may still request an exam or labs; you decide at that point whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under 60 applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated limit, with no significant health history and no tobacco use for the past year. Some carriers will accept recent bloodwork from a doctor visit instead of requiring an exam.
If you need an exam, it is typically a 20- to 30-minute visit by a paramedical examiner at your home or office in Azusa, at no cost. Healthy applicants often improve their rate class from exam results, so it is not always a disadvantage.
